SHANTALLA PHYSIO

Chartered Physiotherapist
Beaumont, Dublin 9

Physiotherapy doesn't need to be complicated

1. What’s important to you?

We'll start by understanding what's going on, how it's affecting your life and — most importantly — what you want to get back to.

What's important to you?
2. Calm things down

If you're sore or uncomfortable, we'll find ways to help make things more manageable and get you moving in the right direction.

Calm things down
3. Build things back up

Then we'll gradually work on movement, strength and confidence so your body is better prepared for the things you need — and want — it to do.

Build things back up

No unnecessarily complicated plans. No hundreds of exercises you don't have time to do.

Just a sensible approach built around you.

When something hurts, it's easy to become worried about what you should or shouldn't be doing.

At Shantalla Physio, we keep things simple.

Chartered Physiotherapist

I have had a number of physio sessions with Neil over the last number of months. I presented with tennis elbow and he worked with me in a very professional manner and his experience is evident from how I have restored great movement and no further pain. He provided me with an easy to follow plan of exercises and also since my last session has followed up with me a number of times. During my visits I also had a shoulder issue that he duly looked at and also provided me with an exercise that has also worked extremely well. I have no hesitation in recommending Shantalla Physio.

Neil Harris Chartered Physiotherapist

One physio. Your whole journey

Hi, I'm Neil.

I'm a Chartered Physiotherapist and the person you'll see when you come to Shantalla Physio.

Before becoming a physio, I spent years working in marketing, insurance and pensions — the usual office jobs. I eventually went back to university to do what I'd wanted to do for a long time and qualified as a physiotherapist in 2017.

These days I'm also a husband, dad, runner and get to the gym when I can... so I understand that life is busy.

A rehabilitation plan might look brilliant on paper, but if you've got work, kids, commuting and everything else going on, it has to be realistic enough to actually fit into your life - that's a big part of how I work.

We'll figure out what's important to you, and I'll help you work towards it.

And because Shantalla Physio is a small independent practice, you'll see me throughout your rehabilitation — not a different physio each time you come in.

What can physio help with?

You don't need to know exactly what's causing your problem before you come in.

That's part of my job.

I help people with a wide range of aches, pains, injuries and rehabilitation needs, including:

Back Pain

Whether your back suddenly went, has been niggling for months, or you're worried about getting back to normal activity, we'll assess what's happening and work out the best way forward.

Neck Pain

Neck pain, stiffness, headaches or discomfort associated with work and everyday life can all make things miserable. We'll look at what's contributing and what can help.

Knee Pain

From running and gym-related problems to longer-term knee pain or rehabilitation after injury, we'll work on getting your knee moving, stronger and more confident again.

Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain can affect everything from sleeping and getting dressed to working, lifting weights or playing sport. We'll work out what's limiting you and build from there.

Running Injuries

As a runner myself, I know how frustrating it is when something stops you running. We'll look beyond simply where it hurts and consider training load, strength, recovery and what you need to get back on the road.

Sports Injuries

Whether it's football, GAA, the gym, running or another sport, the aim isn't just to settle the injury - it's to prepare you properly for getting back to what you enjoy.

Post-operative & Post-fracture Rehabilitation

Finished with the hospital, boot, brace or crutches but don't quite feel back to yourself?

Physiotherapy can help rebuild movement, strength and confidence as you return to everyday life, work and exercise.

Getting Back to Exercise

You don't have to be injured to see a physio.

If illness, injury, pregnancy, surgery or simply life has taken you away from exercise, we can put together a gradual and realistic plan to help get you moving again.

Our Appointments

Your first physio appointment

Never been to physio before? Don't worry.

We'll start with a chat about what's been happening and I'll want to understand:

  • where you're having trouble

  • when it started

  • what makes it better or worse

  • how it's affecting your day-to-day life

  • what activities you've had to stop or change

  • and what you'd really like to get back to

We'll then assess the problem together. I'll explain what I think is going on in plain English, answer your questions and talk you through the options.

From there we'll agree on a plan. You won't be handed a huge list of exercises and sent on your way. The aim is to give you the right amount to work on, make sure you understand why you're doing it and progress things as your body becomes more capable.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book directly without seeing your GP first. If during your assessment I think you would benefit from seeing your GP or another healthcare professional, I'll explain why.

What if I'm not sure physiotherapy can help me?

You don't need to figure that out yourself. Get in touch and tell me a little about what's happening. If I don't think physiotherapy is the right option, I'll tell you.

What should I wear?

Wear something comfortable that allows you to move and lets us access the area we're assessing.

Can I claim physiotherapy through health insurance?

Many health insurance plans include some physiotherapy cover, although the amount varies between policies. Check your individual policy or contact your insurer. We'll provide a receipt after every appointment.

Is there parking?

Yes. Parking is available around the clinic. See the full FAQ for more information before your appointment.

Do you offer online physiotherapy?

Yes. Digital physiotherapy appointments are available if you're unable to attend the clinic.

Ready to get back to what matters?

You don't need to know exactly what's wrong.

You don't need to be "bad enough" to see a physio.

And you don't need to wait until something that's niggling becomes a much bigger problem.

If something is stopping you doing the things you want to do, come in and let's have a look at it.

Insurance

Claiming Physiotherapy Through Health Insurance

Depending on your policy, you may be able to claim back some of the cost of your physiotherapy appointments. Check your policy or contact your insurer to see what cover you have.
